CereScan has assembled an outstanding group of business advisors. These include
Matthew Veatch, a Senior Director for Public Health and Government Services with Quintiles Transnational. Quintiles Transnational is the only fully integrated bio and pharmaceutical services provider offering clinical, commercial, consulting and capital solutions. Its 23,000 employees in more than 50 countries have helped develop or commercialize all of the top 30 best-selling drugs. Matt is very knowledgeable in the areas of clinical research and is directly involved in Quintiles projects with the U.S. Government. He is a director of Omnicom Systems, an IT company that supports clinical trials and other research, and he is an advisor to several small healthcare and technology firms. Mr. Veatch has an MBA from California State University and earned his bachelors degree in integrative physiology from the University of Colorado.
John Q. Adams, Jr founded and manages Legacy Capital Partners, LLC, an investment management and private equity firm focused on healthcare technology and pharmaceutical development. Mr. Adams worked for Prudential-Bache Securities, specializing in fixed income investments. He started his pharmaceutical career with Adams Laboratories in 1986. In 1991, Medeva PLC purchased Adams Laboratories, where Mr. Adams subsequently held several national sales and marketing positions. In 1996, Mr. Adams left Medeva to begin a healthcare consulting practice, as well as development of additional business interests. In 1997, Mr. Adams co-founded Rough Creek Lodge, an Executive Resort and Retreat located outside Glen Rose, Texas, serving as President until its sale in 2004. In 1998, as the founding CEO/President, Mr. Adams, along with John Adams, Sr., the founding Chairman, purchased certain assets of the original Adams Laboratories from Medeva and co-founded Adams Respiratory Therapeutics (formerly Adams Laboratories, Inc.). After raising approximately $80 million from venture capital firms, Adams Laboratories developed their lead product Mucinex, and subsequently had their IPO in July 2005. Mr. Adams received his B.A. from Austin College in 1984.
Arlen D. Meyers, MD, MBA is a professor of otolaryngology, dentistry and engineering at the University of Colorado at Denver. He is an award winning researcher, educator, clinician and bioentrepreneur, and the author of over 300 articles and book chapters. Meyers is the co-founder of two medical device companies and a medical tourism company, www.medvoy.com. He serves on the executive committee of the University of Colorado Bioengineering Center and is the founding chairman of the steering committee of the Society of Physician Entrepreneurs. Dr. Meyers was recently selected as a Fulbright Scholar and will spend the summer working in the Business Development Office at Kings College London.
Bob Connelly is an attorney, private investor and advisor to several biotech start-ups and is the former vice president and deputy general counsel for Qwest. He is a graduate of Columbia University School of Law and brings more that 30 years of experience in private practice and corporate counsel positions with Qwest and US West.
Jim Smith has 30 years experience in the telecommunications and directory publishing industries, in a wide variety of operating, marketing, sales, strategic planning, and public policy positions. Mr. Smith retired in July of 2002 from Qwest Communications where he was Executive Vice President of Consumer Markets. From 1997 to 2001 Jim was President and CEO of Qwest DEX, the yellow pages publishing division of Qwest Communications. Since his retirement Mr. Smith has consulted with private equity firms in eleven yellow pages transactions. For 15 months he served as a consultant to, and on the Board of, Yellow Pages Singapore. From early 2007 until May of 2009 he was Chairman of the Board of YPG New Zealand, where he continues as a Senior Advisor. In his consulting capacity he has worked with CVC Asia Pacific, JP Morgan (CCMP), Texas Pacific Group, Bain Capital, Providence Equity Partners, Blackstone, and others.
Jim is currently CEO of SoBiz10, an internet advertising firm. He also is Vice Chairman of Great Outdoors Colorado, a Trustee of The Nature Conservancy, and a Trustee of Westcore Funds. Jim is a graduate of Willamette University, and University of Washington School of Law.
